Our journey began with an overnight stay at the Fiji Gateway Hotel, conveniently located opposite Nadi Airport. Staying in one of the hotel's newly completed rooms and dining at the refurbished Palm Court Restaurant made it clear just how far this property has come. Following its recent expansion, it's now a stylish and comfortable base for a pre- or post-island stay before heading out to one of Fiji's luxury island resorts.

A 40-minute flight from Nadi brings you to the spectacular Wakaya Island—pristine white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and a level of privacy that's hard to match anywhere else in the world.
